Artist Review

I found an artist named Scott Sona Snibbe and he has created some really neat interactive works of art. His art relies or plays a huge part on people’s involvement to help create his work. There is a piece he did called “Falling girl” which takes place on top of a skyscraper then she jumps off of the top. As she falls she interacts with people on her way down. A camera in the room captures the shadows of the people and is put on a computer and played in the building as the girl falls. I think that is neat because it may not be the same experience for every person she may fall or do things different by different involvement. Im sure there is a lot of hard work and thought process into these works of art. I like that you’re not just clicking a button or moving a mouse with this piece to interact. You are actually interacting with your whole body. Similar to the new Kinect video games. As the girl falls she begins to age and daylight comes and goes through this piece. Looking through Scott’s portfolio he has numerous works of art that plays on people’s shadows and movement of the body. I think that is a neat concept and well performed. For more information regarding Scott Snibbe visit his website at http://www.snibbe.com/projects/. He also is working with applications for phones and ipads.
